THE BRONZE AGE

What was the Bronze Age?

It is described as the period when bronze replaced stone and copper. Toolmakers combined copper with a small amount of tin to make bronze. Bronze was harder than copper. It made weapons and tools with a sharper cutting edge.

Bronze Age Weapons

The Bronze Age in Europe occurred around 2200 to 700 BC. Bronze was used for weapons such as

spearheads, swords, and knives.

When and who used it first?

The knowledge of bronze working was discovered first in South Western Asia about 5,000 years ago.

How did the bronze change human life?

Bronze changed lives of the Stone Age people in Asia and Europe. The Bronze Age people used new tools to make better objects more quickly. They made pots, shields, helmets and ornaments. Huts were replaced by towns and palaces and temples were built.

At this time, iron started to be used.

                    Objects of the Bronze Age
